Workers’ Day: Women Affairs Ministry Reaffirms Staff Welfare Commitment

The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has reaffirmed its commitment to staff welfare, productivity, and effective service delivery as Nigeria marks the 2026 Workers’ Day.

In a message to management and staff of the Ministry and its agency, the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, commended workers for their resilience, professionalism, and dedication to the Ministry’s mandate.

Describing employees as “the engine of the Ministry,” the Minister highlighted their critical role in driving policies that promote inclusion, strengthen families, and expand social protection nationwide.

She noted that the Ministry’s programmes are aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises people-centred development, productivity, and shared prosperity. According to her, ongoing initiatives are focused on translating national policies into tangible impact at the grassroots level.

The Minister specifically referenced the Renewed Hope Social Impact Intervention (RHSII-774), a programme designed to reach all 774 local government areas in the country. She said the initiative is expanding empowerment opportunities, strengthening community engagement, and positioning the Ministry as a key driver of national transformation.

Reiterating the Ministry’s focus on staff welfare, Sulaiman-Ibrahim pledged continued improvements in working conditions, capacity development, and institutional support systems to boost productivity.

She also pointed to the designation of 2026 as the “Year of Families and Social Development” as an opportunity to scale up programmes, deepen partnerships, and enhance impact in the social sector.

While acknowledging existing challenges, the Minister expressed confidence that with unity, discipline, and commitment, the workforce would continue to deliver meaningful progress.

She concluded by appreciating staff for their unwavering service, noting that their contributions remain vital to sustaining hope and advancing national development.
